A Time to Die

It is a good night to die.
I told them that - but they didn't understand.
They thought I was going to commit suicide.
They never understand.

But there is so much peace in me tonight,
So much inside that is relaxed.
I don't know why,
I don't even care.
But tonight I feel so alive.

There's so much pain in me
That I can't explain,
And everything hurts.
Why is that?
But tonight I was feeling the moment
And the pain was hidden behind pride
For people that I love.
In the moment I was free from the chains
That bind and love me,
That I love and bind myself to.
And nothing had changed but my perception.
There was so much peace that I know it cannot last,
But in my heart the moment will last forever.
And I know tomorrow will come,
And the pain will still be there,
That it has only given me brief reprieve.
But in this moment with you I have peace.

Maybe you understand what they didn't:

Tonight is the best time to die.

Autumn Memories

Sweeping in the autumn breeze
That gently rustles fallen leaves,
Look back, thoughtful, with a sigh
To springtime, where my memories lie.

See the pastel, sweet and pure,
Hear the laughter, quaint, demure.
Mild raindrops blur the view,
And yet, the sky stays golden blue.

Now midsummer - skies, they change.
Milky whites to red derange;
Wild surge of strange delight! -
Bring darker days of pain and fright.

Autumn, and the restless leaves
Drift silently upon house eaves.
Years of anxious, hard earned bliss,
Filled with clouds that I dismiss.

Who knows what the winter holds?
Sweaters, sniffles, coughs, and colds.
Changes, like each other season -
But I'll survive- and you're the reason.

Dreamers

Dreamers, laughing, slumber deep, contented.
Restful, never watching for the danger
That swiftly, deftly, comes across the moor.
Dreamers, never earthly, always spectral
See good in all of life but ne'er the ill
Sighing, whisper curses of perfection
That burn them from inside with acid's strength.
Dreams may be of innocence and love true,
But shadows ever find a way to break
The perfect dreams of youth and youthful charms.
Dreamers, gently innocent, unguarded
Are open to the pain of loss and hate.
And crimson blood can burn the rosy view
Of those in search of love that's pure and true.

Echoes of the Sea

Come walk along the silver shore,
And breathe the salty air.
Lie in the shade of yesterday
To dream of what was there.

The magic that surrounds the sea,
That distant, misty shroud.
Sings choruses of what once was,
They echo from the clouds.

Listen to the voice that calls,
Come and walk with me.
Together we will sing the songs
And dance upon the sea.

Freedom's Call, Freedom's Fall

Four American eagles fell
Out of the bright blue sky.

Four American birds of prey,
Falling swiftly through dawning day,
Bringing a sickening Judgment day
To two jewels on the Eastern shore.

Four fires burned where they fell,
Tainting the bright blue sky.

One in the center, proclaiming the fall,
One in the wild, the dead heroes' hall,
Two joined together, most fearsome of all,
All hell stunned the people to silence.

Four bells rang out in the still,
Filling the smoke- hazed blue sky.

Clean and clear, into heaven they ring,
Sheer and strong is the hell that they bring,
Pure and plain is the song now to sing-
A song that slowly gains volume.

Four, and the world was forever changed,
Reminded, united we must stand.

Together, we stand against what we regret
In concert, at last, all the stages are set.
United! What happened? Why did we forget?
It took horror to open our eyes.

Four is too many, too many to fall,
Fall from God's grace into hell.

Four that we should have had thought to prevent,
Not till we're burned to the fight give assent.
Remember the lesson- don't let freedom be spent,
For the fight was ours from the very first day.

From Me to You

A little night music, clear and true
To ease my mind while I think of you.
A little laugh of amazement now
As I think of what we have become, somehow.
A thankful prayer to God above
For all the laughter and the love,
The smiles that catch me about to fall
And lift me up above it all.
For the sweetness and the wise,
The faith that I find in your eyes,
The kindly praise I don't deserve,
And faith in God that never swerves.
So make me smile; no need to try!
I'm happy just having you nearby.
This is my poem, from me to you-
I'm happy now, just thinking of you.

Happiness

You can't make me happy

With riches or rings

No gift can inspire

The joy that love brings.

I need no small trinkets,

Nor large fancy cars,

Just show me respect,

and I'll shine like the stars.

I find no pure pleasure

In baubles or games,

Emotions are all that

Will last all my days.

I smile cause you love me,

I'm filled up with joy,

For love is far greater

Than any man's toy.

Imagine

Can you imagine a dead world without love?
Can you imagine a cold world without music?
Can you imagine a harsh world without dreams?
Can you imagine a dark world without hope?

Now close your eyes and imagine all of that.

That's what my world would be like without you.

Interrupted

There're just two of us here
And I'm so afraid.
But you talk to me,
        Softly,
        Gently,
And I feel myself
Calming down, breathing,
Learning to talk to you.

Learning to open my heart,
So slowly, so hesitant,
But I'm learning, and you're there
Helping me.

I never knew I could talk before,
And you're there - just like you said you would be.
I never knew you really meant it.
But you did.
And I feel all the emotion building up,
Like water against a dam,
Pounding, rushing, flowing,
So close, so close to spilling out of my parted lips
About to burst free---

Interrupted.

Someone new, an outsider
Breaks the link.
I feel the backlash like a whip,
And step back, a million miles away from you.
You try to reach out again, but I'm gone.
I can't find my way back to that place of sharing.
And the tidal waves still pound my tired mind.

Leaving

Leaving I looked back for the last time, to the place I know so well.
I'm leaving, never to return. I guess it's just as well.
If you stay in one place to long, it goes stale.
Still... I'll miss the good times as well as all the bad.
It's become a part of me now, but I shouldn't feel too bad,
I'll visit and share stories, send letters in the mail.
But I'll never be a part again, and that's what hurts the most.
Never rushing out the door again, eating buttered toast,
Hurrying to catch the bus that will go if I'm a snail.
I've left some of me behind in that place I know so well,
I'll never be the same again; I've seen the light where I will dwell.
I've left my mark at this stop on the trail.
I wish that things could last, but nothing ever does.
I'll find a new place to replace the one that was.
That seems to be the way it works, right?
I'll always be leaving places, I know, because this world is always changing.
But, just once, I want to stop and feel that life is stabilizing.
But it always goes on, never stopping just for me.

Love Is

Love is feeling great as soon
As the one you love walks in.
Love is sharing most things -
        No, everything
Love is never having to feel
        Unwanted or alone.
Love is falling through a window
        - without fear -
Because you know you'll be caught.
Love fills you up and brims you
Over with happiness.
        Love is always in style.

Love is what I feel for you.

My Time

I'm so tired of living for someone else

And never having the guts to fulfill my own dreams.

I'm so afraid of being myself

And wishing things were as I imagine them to be.

I want the world off my shoulders,

But I can't shake the feeling that this is my time -

My time and no one else's.

But I have to find out who I am.

I'm so lost in this big, big world

And I'm drowning in the dreams of others

And making them my own.

I'm drowning inside an empty love

And dying for these dreams of yours,

Fulfilling my own and crying hard

Wishing you were always here

But always far away.

Drowning in the long lost dreams

Of now and forever.

And still...

It's my time- and no one else's.

Optimism

People will forever say
How all the world is bleak and gray,
That friendships falter, ebb, and sway,
And lovers, faithless, never stay.

They paint views of foretold gloom,
In its absence, they assume
The voice of hellish, death wrought doom,
In which, for joy, there is no room.

If this be truth, consuming dark,
How can we hear the song of lark?
How may yet friendships light a spark,
Or Cupid' s arrows make their mark?

And how may laughter yet survive
All this darkness, through which strive
All dreamers, with internal drive.
How is it, now, they stay alive?

The answer, simple, lies in this
Destroy dark with eternal bliss
Feel ev'ry joy in lovers' kiss,
Unfounded rumors dark, dismiss.

Reject each pessimistic blow
And, with each warding, seek to grow,
Learn from all who truly know,
Seek middle ground, not high nor low.

Keep all pledges that you make
Take care with each step you take
Ev'ry joy is fury's bane
You'll help end sorrow, hate and pain.

Perfect Vision

I walked along the placid road in silence
through the blustery fall,

The graying clouds and crimson leaves
wrapped all around me like a shawl.

In twilight, as the fiery leaves
dropped silently upon house eaves,

A quickness, darting, caught my eye,
a magic, as the mind perceives.

'Twas but a rabbit, hopping by,
within the sight of Autumn sky,

That seemed to carry in its wake
the solemn peace of the wind's sigh.

A simple mammal in its home
as I wandered the country road,

A vision, light and true and clear,
forever in Fall's pattern sewed.

Thanks to the creature who paused there
betwixt the shadows of the dim

For reminding me that in this world
of law and blame and rush and whim,

Simplicity is still the key
to all our peace and prosperity,

For our minds control contentment,
the thoughts of calm and clarity.

Shy

Hiding in shadows
Hidden from view
Smiling so softly,
Falling so surely,
Alone
Too scared to be
A part of this
And too foolish
To be courageous.
Hiding within,
Behind self-made
Walls that
Protect and bind
And don't let anything
In or out.
Alone
And too scared to be
A part of this.

Smile

Smile-
Cause life's worth living
If you give it a chance.

Smile -
Cause dreams come true
If you help them to.

Smile-
Cause somehow, things
Could always be worse.

Smile-
A smile is a rainbow,
And you'll touch everyone
With the brilliance
Of your laughter.

Smile-
It makes life worth living.
All you have to do is
Give it a chance.

Summer in Your Eyes

Laughing loves good company.
In your sparkling eyes I see
A face of love and joy and peace,
A face of dreams that never cease.

I wish I knew the words to say
That show how you help, every day,
The thoughts applying just to you,
That describe you, through and through.

You’re like a perfect summer’s day,
On a beach, where palm trees sway,
Where good friends talk and laugh and dance
And youth play games of life and chance.

The water’s tranquil, how it gleams!-
Like contented people’s dreams.
And love and light delight in sun
That shines above as if for one.

Smiling, laughing, talking, dreaming,
Always forward, ever seeming
As if my perfect dream will last
The world forever, and long past.

Perfect? Not entirely,
But laughing loves good company.
So I will sit so happy here-
So happy, just because you’re near.

And life will change, and friends will leave,
The old will die and we will grieve,
But perfect peace of summer days
Will live forever in your gaze.

And who needs more than happy times
With loved ones in the sands of time?
On a beach I see, like day,
Deep in your eyes, where palm trees sway.

Winter Dreams

Each snowflake holds a thousand dreams,
And frost, a million smiles.
Each icicle boards a hundred stars
That last but for a while.

For each one melts away, it seems,
When spring sweeps o'er the land.
And fades into the sprinkled dew
Like snow upon my hand.

And yet, this dew then stays to help
A flower seed to grow-
That's if we keep our dreams as pure
As perfect winter snow.

And so we work to guard our dreams.
We fight, so they grow tall.
And those that grow to reach the light
Are worth the strain and fall.
